Description
The Godzillas of Asian surf rock, the Surf Coasters got their start on a Japanese game show that actually did not include electric shocks, mud pits or kicks to the groin. With a nearly 15-year-long career, bandleader and guitarist Shigeo Naka has been called “the prince of surf rock.” And with more than 20 albums to its name, the band has evolved to incorporate acoustic, jazz and even heavy metal into its signature beach bum sound. Bypassing the language barrier by writing almost exclusively instrumental tracks, they might as well have been from the big island of Hawaii instead of the bigger island of Honshu. Pollo Del Mar and Beachkreig also perform.
