The San Francisco International Airport (SFO) is conveniently located in South San Francisco about 13 miles south of downtown San Francisco. SFO is easily accessible from Highway 101 just north of Burlingame in San Mateo County. San Francisco International is currently one of the 30 busiest airports in the country and sees more than 30-million travelers annually. 41 domestic and international airlines are serviced by SFO. San Francisco International Airport Car Rental:
Many car rental companies operate out of the San Francisco International Airport (SFO) for those who need more freedom while visiting the Bay Area. SFO's automated people mover, AirTrain, takes travelers to the Rental Car Center via the Blue Line. Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National and Thrifty all have counters on the fourth floor of the Rental Center. Cars can also be reserved online through SanMateo.net.

San Francisco Airport Shuttle Service:
All of San Francisco's major hotels and many other San Mateo County hotels offer shuttle service to and from San Francisco International Airport (SFO). Guests can get picked up at the departure ticketing level of all terminals on the roadway's Center Island in Courtyards 1 and 4 in the domestic terminals and the International Terminal's Courtyards A and G. Airport shuttles may be reserved online through SanMateo.net.

San Francisco Public Transportation:
The San Francisco International Airport (SFO) offers three major public transportation options into and out of the airport. Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART), San Mateo County's rapid rail system, moves people to northern San Mateo County, San Francisco and the East Bay right from SFO. The BART station can be accessed from any terminal by taking the AirTrain system to the Garage G BART Station stop. BART also connects directly to the Milbrae Caltrain station. Caltrain offers service between San Jose and San Francisco. During weekday commuter hours, Caltrain goes as far south as Gilroy. SamTrans is the third option and provides 24-hours of public bussing around San Mateo County, parts of San Francisco and limited service to Palo Alto.

Long- and short-term parking options are available at San Francisco International Airport (SFO) for those who need a place to keep the car. Short-term lots are situated just outside the main terminals and the long-term lot is located north of the airport near the SFO Rental Car Center.
